Website design
Sadly, website design now seems to be something that you can pick up from your local branch of Tesco or do yourself in your home office or bedroom. This is fine for personal websites, and indeed we even supply free web builder software as standard with our fully featured hosting package.
Designing your own site for personal use can be a lot of fun, but if you are attempting to do so for business the results if you get it wrong can be devastating. Sadly, some of the businesses we have dealt with have seen having a website as a "necessary evil" in today's society, especially those of what we might term the "old school", and cannot see the investment potential of a good website.
Our message is simple: If you are going to have your business advertised by a website, you need to make it look and function as well as your potential clients would expect your office, factory or shop to. If it does not, you are doing more harm than good.
Our motto is "keep it simple and make sure it works".
Many home-made websites do not include the necessary meta-tags and other web code which will get you noticed on search engines. If you are unsure whether your current site has these attributes, simply choose the View Code option from the top of your browser. You should see at least reference to "meta keywords" and "description".
We recommend clients use our Content Management System (CMS) once their site has been built, which allows full access to both the content and the meta-tags on your website 24/7. No need to pay us to update your site - you can do it from your home, office or even a hotel room or library providing you have Internet access.
Gone are the days of waiting for your website designer to update your site, and then charge you through the nose for the privelege. With Google now dominating the web search market, it is crucial that you update your site regularly to ensure a good listing.
